Up Close and Personal: The UCAS Personal Statement and Reference

With more and more students from around the world looking to the United Kingdom for their undergraduate education, the UCAS Personal Statement and Reference have only become more important to admissions tutors at UK institutions, especially in highly selective programs and universities. In this session, we will explore expectations of effective UCAS Personal Statements and UCAS References in addition to common mistakes, misconceptions, and bad advice. Additionally, we will explore how to best guide students in not only writing and rewriting their personal statements, but in aiding them in pursing activities and readings that may be reflected in their personal statement. We will also examine actual personal statements and references in detail.
