This inaugural event brings internationally renowned practitioners, researchers, and thought-leaders to campus for lectures, panel discussions, networking, and sharing. This symposium honors Professor Emeritus John Reynolds’ decades of contributions to sustainable design and energy policy.
John Reynolds has taught design and environmental control systems at the University of Oregon since 1967. Elected to the Eugene Water and Electric Board in 1972, his energy policy interests continue today as an Energy Trust of Oregon Board member. His honors include ACSA Distinguished Professor, Fellow in both the AIA and American Solar Energy Society, design awards for the Emerald People’s Utility District office building, and the James Haecker Award for Distinguished Leadership in Architectural Research, for his studies of courtyards. He is co-author of the 6th through 11th editions of Mechanical and Electrical Equipment for Buildings (John Wiley & Sons) and Courtyards: Aesthetic, Social, and Thermal Delight.
