Stelios Michalopoulos is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Brown University. His talk is part of the Africa/Economics theme of the the African Studies Lecture Series. His lecture is entitled, “On the Institutional Origins of African Development: National versus Ethnic-Specific Legacies.” His research examines the historical origins of comparative development, focusing on the determinants of ethnic group formation, economic growth and macroeconomics.
