UO Today #409 Molly Barth and Brian McWhorter

This episode features Grammy-Award winning flutist Molly Barth and Meridian Arts Ensemble member Brian McWhorter. Barth is an assistant professor of flute at the University of Oregon, and has taught at Willamette University and held residencies at the University of Chicago and at the University of Richmond.

McWhorter, after receiving music degrees from the University of Oregon and The Julliard School, is one of the most sought-after performers of his generation. Currently, McWhorter is an assistant professor of trumpet at the University of Oregon and professor of Contemporary Music at the Manhattan School of Music. He has recorded with artists such as, Natalie Merchant, Mark Applebaum, and John Cale, of the Velvet Underground.

McWhorter and Barth perform together as Beta Collide, an ensemble focusing on the collision of new and old musical art forms.
