On April 26, 2013, the University of Oregon hosted a one-day symposium “Racial Representations: African American Literature Since 1975″ in the Gerlinger Lounge. Participants included Erica Edwards (UC Riverside), Howard Rambsy (Southern Illinois U, Edwardsville), Anthony Reed (Yale), Matt Sandler (U Oregon), and Evie Shockley (Rutgers). The day concluded with readings from poet Evie Shockley and novelist David Bradley.
“Racial Representations” was made possible through the generous support of the Vice Provost of Academic Affairs, the English Department, and the Center for the Study of Women in Society.
