University of Oregon faculty demanded a separate board from OUS and requested input in hiring Richard Lariviere’s replacement. More than 1,000 University of Oregon faculty, staff and students attended a statutory faculty assembly that approved a motion for an independent governing board and to take other action after the University of Oregon president was fired Monday 11/28/2011 by the State Board of Higher Education at an OUS board meeting (OUS Hosted video).
In attendance were George Pernsteiner and Lynda Ciuffetti who attempted to address questions from UO faculty and students. Read the OUS press release regarding the termination of Lariviere’s contract here.
In addition to the UO community in attendance at Mac Court, over 300 people watched the Senate Meeting live online.
