DESCRIPTION: For parents of students in grades 2 through 8, this session provides research-based activities to help parents build reading fluency at home. Many children have good decoding skills but still struggle with reading narrative and information passages fluently. The session provides information on how to select appropriate reading material. Fluency goals for each grade level provided. Support literature includes activities for building fluency at the word level, phrase level, and passage level, plus a list of web-based resources.
