Community Conversations: The Artist’s Muse: Exploring Inspiration & the Creative Process

*R. Wesley Hurd, Director, Blue Tower Arts Foundation; Tutor, Gutenberg College Art Project; Founder, McKenzie Study Center.

*Andre Carpenter, Actor, singer, dancer, theatrical director, choreographer, drama teacher, lecturer, and counselor.

These artists explore the creative process and consider their individual and collaborative experiences with imagination, inspiration, observation, experimentation, problem solving and decision making. The speakers consider the interplay between innate talent and learned skill, as well as definition of art.

Community Conversations is an academic program that is one of the Living Learning Initiatives of University Housing in partnership with the Clark Honors College, the Oregon Humanities Center, and Undergraduate Studies. The goal of Community Conversations is to stimulate intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, contrarian debate, and articulate discourse among the 3,300+ residential students at the University of Oregon.
