Michael Fifield, FAIA, AICP, is a Professor of Architecture and Director of the Housing Specialization Program at the University of Oregon. His research and teaching has focused on issues of smart growth and smaller dwelling units as a means of achieving both environmental and community sustainability. His presentation will summarize his current research and how that research has expanded his thinking after spending a three-month sabbatical leave in Portugal on a Fulbright Scholar Research Award to study housing.
