Jill Ann Harrison, assistant professor of Sociology at the University of Oregon, discusses her ethnographic work examining the effects of globalization on the shrimp industry in Louisiana. Her focus is on the cultural importance of the fishery to the people of the Bayou. Harrison also talks about the revitalization occurring in some post-industrial cities in the American Rust Belt.
